2006 Steve Cone has shot great in 06, below are his stats. We at Spider Firearms are proud of Steve's performance at FCSA 1000yd competitions, just as we are proud of all of our customers. We would like to hear from you when you shoot at a match, win or not. For those who are wondering, yes I did shoot at the Skip Talbot Memorial Shoot but I didnt break 200 points in my class (Hunter). I think I found the problem though, my gun had a loose nut behind the buttpad:-) Hey, thats how it goes sometimes. Since I am pulling up the rear and Steve seems to have the front covered, how about the rest of the Ferret50 shooters fill in the gap. I know you guys have shot so let me know how you did and I will get those stats up here. 10-8-06 Rattlesnake Mountain, WA (FCSA Regional Match) Todd Pizzini (29" Ferret50 upper) 2nd Hunter Class

Wow, Ferret50 shooters made a really great showing at the Reade Township, PA match in May. We took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Hunter, a 1st in Light and a 3rd in Heavy. Every competitor who shot a Ferret50 came away with a trophy. I am getting better at this 1000yd shooting, the trouble is the wind. I guess my choices are shoot in a tunnel or learn to read the wind. So I am learning. Friday (sight-in day) was exciting. The wind was quite readable and my rifle was shooting true. After I was on target I shot 5 X's and 8 10's with only two shots out of the 10 ring, and I knew I had thrown the shots as the wind flag indicated a wind change I had missed before the shot. Sat and Sun the wind was less predictable and I ended up shooting a 273x2 for 2nd in Hunter. I also shot Unlimited for practice and shot a 5" 4 shot group that grew to 10" with the 5th shot. oops |

Bob and Lou work as a team with Bob behind the trigger and Lou as the Crew chief. Montie is one of the calmest shooters I know and is a skilled sportsman. Dave (yours truely) had to really work to keep up with these guys. Olan, a skilled sportsman himself has been focused on the #1 spot in Light since he started shooting 50cal. |

2004 Spider Firearms would like to congratulate the following shooters for their performances at FCSA competitions in 2004.

Moore II (Supercomp Ferret50) 10th Hunter - July 1-4, Raton, NM Olan London (Supercomp Ferret50) 3rd Light Gun - Aug 20-22, Quantico, VA Michael Norton (Supercomp Ferret50) 6th Light Gun - Aug 20-22, Reno, NV Montie London (Supercomp Ferret50) 1st Hunter - Oct 15-17, Reade Township, PA Bob Fontano (Supercomp Ferret50) 4th Heavy Gun - Oct 15-17, Reade Township, PA Olan London (Supercomp Ferret50) 2nd Light Gun - Oct 15-17, Reade Township, PA Olan London (Supercomp Ferret50) 3rd Heavy Gun - Oct 15-17, Reade Township, PA Olan London (Supercomp Ferret50) 3rd 2 Gun - Oct 15-17, Reade Township, PA In fall and winter I worked on a new projectile design and did some load work. I did chronograph my loads with the 800gr at an average of 2550fps. The newer projectile I was able to launch at an average of 2625 from a 28" barrel. We will see how it does in PA in the spring. I was talking to Montie about his first 50cal match at Quantico. He had taken 1st in Hunter with a score of 287. Wow, that's only one point from the world record. '05 should prove to be interisting as both Montie and his dad Olan are long time long distance shooters. I first have to start out by saying that I had no idea that shooting in a match would be so much fun. And the folks of the FCSA are wonderful people. My first match was in June '04 at the Reade Township match in PA. I shot in Hunter class and took 3rd place with a 251-2x. I was nervous as hell and it took me a bit to bring it all together. So, my Saturday score wasnt so good at 116 but I was able to score a 135 on Sunday. On Friday, sight in day, I surprisingly was on paper with the first shot. I was surprised because I was working with a new projectile design of mine and hadn't spent a lot of time getting used to how it flew. My come-up from a 100yd zero was 24MOA, which for a 800gr projo out of a 28" barrel meant it was flying very flat or the velocity was way up there. I have yet, to this date, chrongraphed my loads. I know, shame on me.:-) OK, John and Wendy talked me into coming to the World Championships held on the July 4th weekend. I had done some minor mods to my rifle, dropped a couple of grains of powder from my load and seated the projo out .015 further than I did at the Reade Township match, and then headed to Raton,NM for the match. My goal was to only better my last score, and I did just that. I shot a 261-3x and took 10th place out of 58 shooters in Hunter class. Well, I missed the Quantico match. We had just gotten hit by Hurricane Charlie and didnt have power at the shop or at home. I choose to stay with my wife until things got back to normal. So it looks like I wont be getting to another match until 2005, but thats ok. I need to chronograph my loads and work on my position and wind calling skills. There is no subsitute for trigger time.
